Prayer and Worship: Day of Prayer For Victims of Child Abuse

Day of Prayer for Victims of Child AbuseCINCINNATI (WKRC) - The Archdiocese of Cincinnati will hold a day of prayer for victims of sexual abuse and the Catholic church on Sept. 14 at St. Michael Church, Fort Loramie,

This comes a few weeks after a strongly worded letter from Archbishop Dennis Schnur after the Pennsylvania Grand Jury released its report on abuse there. More than 300 priests were found to have abused more than 1,000 minors over 70 years.

In his letter, the archbishop said, "No words can diminish the level of revulsion one feels at reading them." He apologized to victims for the terrible pain and suffering they experienced and is sorry for the shame Catholics feel at the inexcusable behavior of some cardinals bishops and priests.

The archbishop says there are no active cases of clerical abuse of minors anywhere in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati and it is committed to the protection of all involved in church ministries.
