Pastoral Region Announcements for January 6, 2018

SPAGHETTI DINNER will be held TODAY, Sunday, January 6 from 10:30 am-1:30 pm at St. Michael Hall.  Proceeds will fund an Eagle Scout Project led by SM parishioner Devin Wray to install an entrance way sign to the new Redskin Memorial Park.  Come enjoy spaghetti, salad, garlic bread, and dessert.

GRIEFSHARE, a weekly support group for people grieving the loss of a close personal relationship, will be offered at the POC from 6:30-8:00 pm on Mondays beginning January 7 for 13 weeks.  Those attending will watch a DVD with grief counselors and people who have experienced the death of someone close to them, which will help you learn valuable information that will help you thru this difficult time.  If interested, contact Rose at the POC. 

SURVIVING DIVORCE:  Too many people stay stuck in their pain and don’t know how to find their way past the pain of divorce or separation.  Our 12-week group begins on Monday, January 7 from 6:30-8:00 pm at the POC.  Cost of $25 includes materials for 12 weeks.  Topics included in the series include shock, denial, fear, anger, depression, loneliness, financial issues, battles in court, custody and visitation, and annulment.  Find comfort and counsel consistent with Catholic teaching.  Contact Rose at the POC to find out more information or to register.

OUR NEXT JUNIOR HIGH YOUTH NIGHT is Sunday, January 13 from 7:00-8:30 pm at St. Mike’s Place.  It’s a new year with new challenges, so get ready to tackle as many as you can at this fun game night!

DYMPHNA PRAYER SERVICE will be held in the Adoration Chapel at the Maria Stein Shrine on Sunday, January 27 at 2:00 pm. The service will include prayer for those afflicted with mental health issues, including the common “winter blues”, and witness and relic veneration. With questions, contact the Shrine at 419-925-4532.

BAPTISM CLASS will be held on Tuesday, January 29 at 6:30 pm at St. Mike’s Place.  All first-time parents are required to take this class before the baptism of their child. Contact Diane or Betty Ann at the POC to register.  The next class will be held in April.

VALENTINE DINNER: Region will be having a Valentine Steak Dinner for married and engaged couples on  Sunday, February 17.  Cost will be $35.  Greg and Stephanie Schutte will speak on Love, Life and Laughter in Marriage.  See our website or contact Rose or Lisa at the POC for more information.

OUR NEXT SENIOR CITIZEN EVENT will be on Sunday, January 6.  We will leave the SPP Church parking lot at 8:45 am and the SM Church parking lot at 9:00 am to attend 10:30 am Mass, tour the church and see the huge nativity display at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Glandorf, and then go out to eat for lunch.  Contact Rose at the POC to make a reservation.

LOOKING FOR A LOW IMPACT breathing, stretching, and relaxation chair exercise workout?  Join us on Thursday mornings for “Strength and Stretch” exercises at 10:30 am at St. Michael Hall.  This class will follow Chair Volleyball and last 30-45 minutes.  Wear comfortable clothing.  No registration is necessary.

ST MICHAEL  APOSTLESHIP OF PRAYER:  The Holy Father’s monthly intentions pamphlets are ready for promoters to distribute to the families on your list.  Please pick up your envelopes in the main entrance of SM Church and distribute them anytime before the new year.

 

 

Pastoral Region Announcements for December 16, 2018

THE NEXT HIGH SCHOOL YOUTH NIGHT is Sunday, December 16 at 7:00 pm at St. Mike’s Place!  Be ready for a great night of food, faith and fun!  Join us for an Advent/Christmas celebration preparing for our upcoming Christmas Caroling.  All hands are needed for this preparation, and be sure to come hungry!

HIGH SCHOOL CHRISTMAS CAROLING will be held the evening of December 19 and we are in need of VIRTUS-approved drivers and chaperones!  Please email Kevin at kevins@nflregion.org if you can help out and let him know how many seats your vehicle can hold or if you would rather just ride along. 

THE NEXT HIGH SCHOOL BREAKFAST CLUB will be Friday, December 21 at 7:00 am at St. Mike’s Place.  Enjoy donuts, faith and fun on the last school day of the week!  We will be having a white elephant-style gift exchange, so bring something of no value to you or your family wrapped for a fun morning of silly gifts!

ST. MICHAEL CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEAR’S MASS GREETERS STILL NEEDED:  If you or your family are interested in greeting at any of the Christmas or New Year’s Masses, please contact Diane at the POC to volunteer.  SM Christmas Masses are being held as follows:  Vigil Masses on Christmas Eve at 3:30 pm and 6:00 pm at SM Church, and 3:30 pm at St. Michael Hall, and Christmas Day Masses at 8:00 am and 11:00 am.  The New Year’s Masses will be at 5:30 pm on New Year’s Eve, and  8:00 am and 11:00 am on New Year’s Day.

 SM K-6 CCD STUDENTS CHRISTMAS MOVIE EVENT:  We will be hosting an after school movie, The Star on Wednesday, December 19.  Those attending are to go directly to St. Michael Hall after school with the movie starting at 3:30 pm and ending at 5:00 pm.  PERMISSION FORMS ARE REQUIRED.  Popcorn and Kool Aid will be provided and students may bring a blanket or pillow for floor seating.  Students must be picked up no later than 5:00 pm.  School bus riders will need to provide the school with a note allowing them to not ride the bus home this day.  Contact Deb at the SM CCD Office with any questions.

THERE WILL BE NO ST. MICHAEL CCD CLASSES the weeks of December 24-28 and December 30-January 4 for holiday break.
